About Us

The Gaunt family have been Funeral Directors for 6 generations spanning over 123 years. They have been arranging and conducting funerals from their head office in Rowley Regis since 1900. In 1988 Peter Gaunt formed a partnership with Stephen Godber and opened Stephen Godber Funerals in Smethwick. In 2017 they opened Black Country Funeral Services in Cradley Heath, to help combat funeral poverty and give back to their local community by helping those in financial difficulty, providing a dignified Funeral Service. Summer 2018, The Gaunt family opened their fourth Funeral Home in Stourbridge, Gaunts of Wollaston. In the summer of 2023 their fifth Funeral Home opened in Kidderminster – Gaunts of Kidderminster.

Acquiring Hoskins Stourport and rebranding as Gaunts of Stourport allows us to inherit the great foundations, reputation and community support that Hoskins have worked hard to build and combine it with our modern, contemporary and personal approach to Funerals.

Over the years Funeral Services have evolved becoming a lot more personal, bespoke and more of a celebration of life. When we first started out over 120 years ago our vision was to become The Family Funeral Directors. Providing a first class Funeral Service to the local community and playing our part in their last farewell. We maintain this ethos to our current day with the families being the forefront of what we do. We are able to adapt our services to suit your requirements and budget. We are extremely proud of the caring and compassionate reputation we have established from the families that we have looked after many, many times. We strongly believe we are the leading service providers in the Black Country and our decision to expand our services to the Wyre Forest has allowed us to be able to offer our services to the towns and villages in and around Stourport.
